New start-up: Russo-German Energy Agency (rudea) founded
Germany and Russia are growing ever closer when it
comes to energy efficiency. President Medvedev has defined the
exploitation of Russia's energy efficiency potential as the
strategically most important task his country faces. The Russo-German
Energy Agency (rudea) was therefore established on 16 July 2009, the
aim being to increase efficiency in the retrieval, conversion and use
of energy in Russia in collaboration with Russian and German ministries
and enterprises. rudea will focus on the energy-based refurbishment of
buildings, efficiency measures in industry, the use of innovative
technologies to provide electricity and heat and a scale-up of
renewable energies.
Its shareholders are the Energy Carbon Fund, a company created by the former energy provider RAO UES of Russia (60 percent), and dena (40 percent). The following companies have been acquired to date as cooperation partners at the German end: BASF SE, EnBW AG, E.ON AG, Herrenknecht AG, Lurgi GmbH, Siemens AG, Viessmann Werke GmbH & Co. KG and VNG – Verbundnetz Gas AG. At a German ministerial level, the Federal Economics Ministry, Environment Ministry, Building Ministry and Agricultural Ministry will be involved in the implementation of the various projects.
