EST provides support for local carbon reduction plans
The Energy Saving Trust has signed up as the UK’s first Supporting Structure for the EU’s Covenant of Mayors initiative. Through its one-to-one support programme the Energy Saving Trust provides technical support for local authorities to develop carbon reduction plans to reduce emissions from their residents' homes and public housing. It also provides a Practical help service to answer technical queries from local authority officers and to deliver training for Council officers and elected representatives. Through these and other services the Energy Saving Trust will provide support to new and existing Covenant of Mayors signatory cities.
Philip Sellwood, Energy Saving Trust Chief Executive, signed the official partnership agreement witnessed by Pirjo-Liisa Koskimaki, Head of Unit D4, DG Energy and Alexandre Fernandes, President of EnR (European Energy Network) and President of Portuguese Energy Agency, ADENE, at the recent EnR annual Full Meeting, held in Madrid in February.
