EnR Presidency & Secretariat

 The Institute for the Diversification and Energy Saving, IDAE, took over the Presidency of EnR from the Swedish Energy Agency, STEM, on March 3rd, 2011. The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources, CRES, accepted to be president of EnR in 2012. The current troika consists of IDAE, STEM and CRES. 

Vision

The vision for the Spanish Presidency is to strengthen EnR’s position as a competent and inspiring speaking partner for energy actors and decision makers in Europe in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies, and sustainable development.

The Spanish presidency would like to continue the very good work done by its predecessors, and extent EnR’s working areas into new fields such as International Cooperation, reinforcing its relationship with international organizations such as IRENA, IEA, OLADE (Latin American Energy Organization), MEDENER Network, etc., and therefore expanding its activities also to non EU regions to detect new projects and possibilities for cooperation.

Currently, the EnR Network is formed by twenty four European National Energy Agencies, and more are likely to apply. In March 2011 we have just welcomed a new member from Turkey and within the Spanish presidency efforts will be done to gather even more members, focusing mainly on Eastern European Countries and Russia.

EnR members have a range of competences as policy implementing bodies and play an important role in the design and development of their national energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies and plans. Therefore it is also the ambition of this presidency to continue our relationships with the European Commission and energy market actors, emphasizing our work on the new technology and innovation trends, and on issues such as the next framework programme, the SET Plan, NERC 300, Innovation Union, and Smart Cities.
