EnR Presidency & Secretariat

The Swedish Energy Agency, STEM, took over the Preidency of EnR from the Portuguese Energy Agency, ADENE on February 10, 2010. This also means that a new troika mangement is established as the Bulgarian Energy Agency AEE has accepted to be president of EnR in 2011. The new troika will thus consist of ADENE, STEM and AEE/EEA.
Vision
The vision for the Swedish Presidency is to strengthen EnR's position as a competent and inspiring speaking partner for energy actors and decision makers in Europe.
The Swedish presidency would like to extend EnRs work to new areas, explains Dr Tomas Kåberger, Director General at the Swedish Energy Agency:
"EnR can contribute both to European competitiveness by encouraging more energy efficient industries, and to more efficient economy in the renewable energy sector by trying out the directive's different mechanisms for cooperation", Dr Kåberger says.
EnR's goal is to strengthen cooperation between member agencies and other European actors on all issues relevant to sustainable energy. EnR is currently numbering more than twenty European energy agencies, and more are likely to apply. They have responsibility for issues like planning, management or review of national research, as well as development, demonstration or dissemination programmes in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy in their countries. Ministries are not among the members.
"The ambition that the Swedish Energy Agency has for its coming year of EnR presidency is that EnR shall be the most inspiring speaking partner for European policy makers in the field of energy and climate change issues”, says Josephine Bahr Ljungdell, Director of the International Secretariat at the Swedish Energy Agency.
