Energy Strategy of the Republic of Croatia, 30th June 2009
Government of Republic of Croatia has on its session held on June 19th 2009 adopted new Energy Strategy of the Republic of Croatia. The Strategy envisages construction of two gas thermal power plants, two coal thermal power plants and hydropower plants. Decision on the construction of nuclear power plant will be made in 2012. Moreover, energy sector demands large investments which are foreseen to be around 15 billion euro until 2020. The strategy is based on estimated annual increase of 3.1% in energy consumption. The strategy, also, deals with construction of LNG terminal, connection of Croatian and Hungarian gas networks, investments in underground storages of natural gas, reconstruction of refineries, insurance of 90-day oil supplies until 2012 and Družba Adria project.
